The Appointment

This text, entitled "The appointment", is taken from the story "The millionaire" in "Journey of the Mind" that was written by Alan Pemberton, and published in 1983. It deals with a mysterious messenger who has come to deliver a sinister message to Dr Alfred Richter, a millionaire who is responsible for the death of fifty workers. The scene takes place in Richter's office. 

Arthur's questions: 

1) What does the millionaire hear whilst he's sitting at his desk?

The Millionaire hears : "Good afternoon, Dr Richter".

2) Where does the conversation take place?

The conversation take place in his office.

3) What is the reaction of the doctor when he sees the messenger?

The doctor continued to stare, he froze at the sound. 

4) What does the messenger announce to Dr Richter?

The messenger annouces to Dr Richter one month hence he will be dead. 

5) Who is the strange messenger, in your opinion?

In my opinion, he's a very strange character because in real life nobody come to announce own dead. 

6) How much longer does the doctor have left to live?

Stay to live to doctor one month.

7) From the description of the messenger's clothes, what would appear to be his job?

From the description of the nessenger's clothes, I can say he's a rundertaker. 

8) What's the reaction of the doctor at the end of the text?

At the end, the doctor wants to call the police.

9) What happens to the mysterious messenger?

The mysterious messenger disappears.

10) What has the doctor done that is so terrible?

The doctor has death fifty workers.
